Challenges
Wireless VLANs were not available on the access points due to legacy controller architecture limitation
Controller performance was degraded due to high volume of traffic
Solution
- Layer 2 Ethernet over GRE tunnels created between the LAN spread across the geographical location
- LAN aggregator to switch the traffic between the tunnel and trunk ports
- Intra-VLAN bridging with LAN aggregator
- IGMP snooping and BCMC optimization
- Created a tunnel between the access point and LAN aggregator
Outcomes
- Secured Layer-2 tunnel between the aggregator and the access points
- Automated tunnel learning and root cause analysis
