Challenges
Transitioning from a legacy wired cabin control system to wireless one
Absence of an IoT gateway solution that seamlessly connects with their existing application
Insufficient support for IoT connectivity and weight reduction in the current cabin control system
Solution
- Developed WCCS using ACL Digital’s CENTAURI 200 IoT Gateway & KW32Z platforms for wireless connectivity of lights, PSU, & overhead bins control over Thread
- Developed backend and WebUI using NodeJS and Angular respectively to manage cabin lights (static, dynamic scene management, lighting color)
- Control, monitor overhead storage bins & Passenger Service Units (LED-backlit indicators for No Smoking, Wi-Fi Available, and Fasten Seat Belts)
- Wireless audio streaming for announcements
- Designed and developed Android mobile app for config. & Thread commissioning
- Migrated the Web UI and backend server to customer’s Network Attached Storage (NAS) device with IPv6 support
Outcomes
- Reduced setup time efforts by 50% with simplified installation as compared to existing wired legacy system
- Reduced fuel cost with high fuel efficiency achieved by reducing weight of the cabin control system by 30%
