Aircraft Structural Health Monitoring Solution for a Leading US-Based Aerospace Solution Provider

ACL EXT 214

Overview

The client sought a technology partner to stabilize their real-time aircraft structural health monitoring solution and achieve compliance with stringent military standards. ACL Digital designed a heterogeneous high-speed data acquisition board, ensuring FCC and MIL-S-901/MIL-STD-167-1 compliance, enabling the client to expand into military applications.

    Challenges

Inadequate system stability in the existing aircraft structural health monitoring solution

Absence of compliance with stringent military standards

    Insufficient high-speed data acquisition capabilities

    Solution

    • Designed heterogeneous acquisition board to achieve time synchronization between data set of multiple sensors like piezoelectric, resistance temperature detectors, strain gauge for detecting composite damage, crack and impact that occur on aircraft structure
    • Designed and developed firmware application to read the sensor data of Piezoelectric, Temperature, RTD, Strain Gauge sensors
    • Supported high data acquisition speed up to 30kS/s.
    • Conducted pre-compliance tests for FCC class B, MIL-S-901,MIL-STD-167-1
    • Performed functional validation of all the interfaces (SPI, UART,SDIO) with the hardware platform
